Section III : Risk Assessment Analysis
• Practice of double cropping is observed along all the rivers and their tributaries and
is predominant in Ambad and Bhokardan tahsils. The major cropping season in the
district is kharif. Patches of scrub land are scattered throughout the district and are
mostly located within the agricultural land.
• The current irrigation potential in the district is 66,097 hectors while the area under
well irrigation is about 35,000 hectares. The area under double crops is 15% while the
area under irrigation is only 7.8% which is far below the state average.
• Forest area mainly consists of deciduous and degraded forests and covers the
northern portion of Jalna tahsil.
• Scrub land viz. land with or without scrub, which are generally prone to degradation,
occupy topographically higher altitude area and are mostly observed on the uplands
of Jaffrabad, Jalna, Partur and Ambad tahsils. It is observed that the land with or
without scrub occurs adjoining the forests area. However on the uplands, some
secluded patches are also seen.
• A remarkably large patch of stony waste land is observed in the northern part of Jalna
tahsil. Gullied lands are seen along River Godavari. Some patches of this category
are also observed away from the river banks in Ambad and Partur tahsils.
