4.4.3 Industrial and Chemical Accidents and Fires
Jalna District Disaster Response Plan
Section IV: Capability Analysis
There are six industrial estates in the district. Only Jalna industrial estate i.e. MIDC Jalna is
the most active industrial area. The district administration with the help of DIC and Joint
Director, Industrial Safety and Health analyzed the 3 hazardous industries of the district.
The Lay-out of the 3 hazardous industries with their fact sheets is included in this plan.
Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Aurangabad has given the report of 1 toxic and 6
chemical industries of the district.
The 3 hazardous industries have prepared their own disaster control plans and they take all
measures to minimize the various damages due to accidents.
In Jalna district, there are 4 Municipal Councils and 8 tahsils. Out of these Municipal
Councils, only Jalna Municipal Council has its own fire brigade with only 2 fire fighting
machines. Fire cases have occurred in various parts of the district during the last 30 years and
as such the two fire tenders are insufficient to tackle the fires. The district administration
needs more fire tenders and availability of fire brigade service at each Municipal Council.
The Civil Hospital in the district headquarter has its own well equipped separate burn ward
to help the fire victims. But besides this, the district administration is not equipped to give
adequate support service to the fire victims.
