4.3 Administrative Preparedness
4.3.1 Control Room in the District

Section IV: Capability Analysis
A control Room with staff strength of two clerical persons and one peon functions round the
clock in the district head quarter as well as at each tahsil office during Monsoon months from
June to September. During the remaining part of the year, only the Control Room of the
Police Department works round the clock.
The officer incharge of the Control Room is responsible for receiving flood warnings/heavy
rainfall/uprooting of trees/Rain along with hail-storms/Damage of property as well as life etc.
This Control Room also receives weather information form IMD, Colaba office and transmits
them to all tahsil offices, Collector, RDC and Dy. Collectors.
There is a wireless station control room at Jalna in the premises of Executive Engineer, Minor
Irrigation Division, Jalna. Through this control room, messages from the various stations are
monitored and communicated to the Chief Engineer, Irrigation Department, Aurangabad and
to other authorities.
Vast use of internet and e-mail has increased as a medium of communication.
4.3.2 Community Education and Preparedness Programs
During the recent flood at Golegaon in Jalna district, wide publicity and community
education in the affected areas was done by beat of drums (i.e.Davandi). Besides this, there is
no community education and preparedness programs that have been undertaken so far with
regard to any disasters.
4.3.3 Measures taken for promotion of life/crop/property insurance
Measures have been taken in flood affected areas for promotion of insurance for crop and
property.
