land pursuant to the prescribed standard has been provided in Annex 4 (c).<br />
Situation of Building<br />
<strong>The</strong> building currently utilized by the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong> is insufficient and in addition to the office<br />
building and 24 residences for the judges need to be constructed. In addition to this, it is also<br />
necessary to make provisions for construction of residences for other 350 employees currently<br />
working at the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong>. Description of the manpower involved in the <strong>Supreme</strong> <strong>Court</strong>, and<br />
status of the office building and residence has been provided in Annex 3, 4 and 5.<br />
From among the 16 Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s, eight Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s have sufficient building space<br />
whereas 7 Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s have insufficient building space. Appellate <strong>Court</strong>, Surkhet does not<br />
possess its own building. <strong>The</strong> Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s of Ilam, Baglung and Jumla are within the same<br />
complex of the District <strong>Court</strong>, whereas the Appellate <strong>Court</strong>, Surkhet is located at the administrative<br />
building. Altogether there are 30 residences available in all the Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s. From among the<br />
available residences, the residence of Appellate <strong>Court</strong>, Jumla is used for official purpose. <strong>The</strong><br />
Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s of Biratnagar and Patan do not have a single residence. It is deemed necessary<br />
to construct an office building for Appellate <strong>Court</strong>, Surkhet and expansion or addition of storey for<br />
other seven courts should also be carried out. In addition to 74 residences for judges of the<br />
Appellate <strong>Court</strong>, it is also necessary to make provisions for construction of residences for other<br />
836 employees currently working at the Appellate <strong>Court</strong>. Description of the manpower involved in<br />
the Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s, and status of the office building and residence has been provided in Annex 3,<br />
4 and 5.<br />
Currently, 60 District <strong>Court</strong>s have their own building. From among the 60 District <strong>Court</strong>s, 31 of the<br />
courts have insufficient building space. 29 District <strong>Court</strong>s have insufficient building space.<br />
Likewise, from among the 60 District <strong>Court</strong>s that have their own building, buildings of 11 District<br />
<strong>Court</strong>s are in a dilapidated condition. Similarly, eight District <strong>Court</strong>s are in a dilapidated condition<br />
and have insufficient building space. From among the 60 District <strong>Court</strong>s, 32 District <strong>Court</strong>s needs<br />
renovation or additional construction.<br />
From among the 15 District <strong>Court</strong> that do not have any building, 15 District <strong>Court</strong>s are on lease, 6<br />
District <strong>Court</strong>s are located in other administrative buildings and 3 District <strong>Court</strong>s are in the same<br />
complex of the Appellate <strong>Court</strong>s. From among the 6 District <strong>Court</strong>s which are lease, construction<br />
works for Pyuthan and Achham District <strong>Court</strong> has commenced. From among the 6 District <strong>Court</strong>s<br />
that are located in other administrative buildings, construction works for Parbat and Kathmandu<br />
District <strong>Court</strong> has commenced. As such 11 more buildings need to be constructed for 11 District<br />
<strong>Court</strong>s.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re are 41 residences available for the various District <strong>Court</strong>s. From among the available<br />
residence, the residence of Sankhuwasabha and Nawalparasi District <strong>Court</strong> has not been used.<br />
One residence of Pyuthan District <strong>Court</strong> and one from among the two residences of Chitwan<br />
District <strong>Court</strong> are been used as residence for employees. Currently, 37 District <strong>Court</strong> judges can<br />
use residences and in order to provide residences to all the judges’ additional 98 residences need<br />
to be constructed and in addition to these 2,700 residences need to be constructed for employees<br />
working at the various District <strong>Court</strong>s. <strong>The</strong> manpower currently involved in the District <strong>Court</strong>s, and<br />
status of building and residences are provided in Annex 3, 4, and 5.<br />
