to it.” This means that one should not overburden or neglect himself and should treat any frailty<br />

that may affect. The Prophet (s) said, “Relax from time to time.”<br />

Relaxation protects against many diseases that are originated, in most cases, from overworking,<br />

exhaustion, and behavioral instability that causes diseases and defects.<br />

ATHLETIC EDUCATION<br />

Islam has been deliberately caring for the athletic education for its being a significant element for<br />

<strong>com</strong>posing the physical vitality and activity. It has legislated a number of courses in this regard.<br />

Racing: Racing is a contract legislated for exercising <strong>com</strong>petition and readiness to fight. The<br />

Prophet (s) said, “No racing except in spears, feet, or horses.” It is also legislated for strengthening<br />

the body and activating the muscles. Jurists have concerned with racing. They dedicated chapters<br />

for discussing its rulings and ethics.<br />

Archery:<br />

Archery stands for the exercising of fighting processes and taking up arms. This exercise creates<br />

physical powers, activates muscles and matures the verve. It also teaches willpower and self‐<br />

reliance.<br />

Hunting:<br />

Hunting stimulates the organs, activates the muscles, initiates activity, and empowers the body,<br />

because it requires movement, walking, and other athletic motions. The Muslim kings, in the early<br />

ages of Islam, were fond of hunting, yet they practiced it for amusement. Books of the Islamic<br />

jurisprudence expose explicitly the legality, illegality, and conditions of hunting.<br />

PHYSICAL BENEFITS OF WORSHIP<br />

In addition to the elevation of morals, disciplining of mentalities, and connection to the Creator,<br />

the Islamic rites aim at amending health, training the body, activating the muscles, and<br />
