(1) Project Name: For this example, this field would be nnnnn_Design.<br />

January 18, 2013<br />

(2) Working Directory: Used to specify the default directory that GEOPAK will use to open and save<br />

files. For this example this field would be set to \project\FRA\12345\geopak\<br />

(3) Job Number: This is used to identify the Coordinate Geometry (COGO) Database (gpk) for the<br />

project.<br />

Use the three digit number for the mainline route number. For example, State Route 4 the Job<br />

Number would be 004, Township Road 50 would be 050, etc.<br />

In cases where there is not an established route number, the first three characters <strong>of</strong> the road<br />

name should be used.<br />

(4) The Project Description field shall contain the following information.<br />

County-Route-Section: FRA-070-0.00<br />

PID Number: 12345<br />

State Job Number: 555555*<br />

Project Manager: Ms. Jane Doe<br />

Project Designer: Mr. John Dow<br />

Project Description: The scope <strong>of</strong> work for project 12345 goes here. Include<br />

as much detail as necessary to define the work done for<br />

the project.<br />

* If the State Job Number (SJN) is not assigned at the time <strong>of</strong> creation, leave the area blank where the<br />

number is required. Update this field when SJN number is assigned.<br />

In the middle <strong>of</strong> the Create New Project dialog, select the Preferences button to access the GEOPAK<br />

User Preferences dialog. The values shown below are the recommended settings for an English unit<br />

project.<br />
