January 18, 2013 For ODOT CADD Users, MicroStation and GEOPAK V8i standard CADD files are located on each District and Central Office CADD Server under the ODOTstd\V8istd directory. 103 Revisions and Updates The Office of CADD and Mapping Services, CADD Section, with input from ODOT’s District Offices and the consultant and construction community, will develop, and maintain procedures and standards for the Department’s CADD related activities. CADD Manual holders are encouraged to submit comments and suggestions for improvements to the manual or ODOT’s CADD Standards. Any errors found should be brought to the attention of the ODOT Office of CADD and Mapping Services via the following website: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/Engineering/CADDMapping/CADD/Pages/suggestions.aspx The Ohio Department of Transportation strives to stay current with state of the art trends in the market. However, impacts on project delivery schedules and the resources necessary to provide future support for new features must be considered prior to any change. Updating this manual is intended to be a continuous process and revisions will be issued periodically per the release dates stated on the Design Reference Resource Center (DRRC) web page at the following address: http://www.dot.state.oh.us/drrc/Pages/default.aspx The DRRC web page also provides the option to subscribe to an email list for notification of updates to ODOT’s Standard CADD Files. 200 CADD STANDARDS 201 Installation and Configuration 201.1 General January 18, 2013 This section outlines the setup for a typical installation of MicroStation V8i at ODOT. The configuration files discussed in this section are available from the ODOT CADD Standards website. 201.2 Installation For a typical installation of MicroStation V8i SELECTseries 2 at ODOT see the document ODOT_Config.pdf. This document outlines the setup for a typical installation of MicroStation V8i SELECTseries 2. The ODOT_Config.pdf file is located in the ODOT\V8istd\config\doc directory or the file can be downloaded from the ODOT CADD Standards website. Note: The department has recently migrated to a Windows 7, 64-bit Operating System environment. The directory paths for Windows XP and Windows 7 are different. The paths for both Operating Systems are contained in the ODOT_Config.pdf. In the future only the Windows 7 directories may be provided. 201.3 CADD Standards Directory The configuration and associated files for MicroStation and GEOPAK that are used for plan development at ODOT are typically stored in a directory tree with the root of the tree named “ODOTstd”. This directory structure is set to i:\ODOTstd for a typical ODOT installation, where “i” is a network drive mapped to the primary CADD file server. Configuration files and the associated CADD standards for specific versions of MicroStation are stored in separate folders beneath the ODOTstd folder as shown below: • Projects The Projects directory contains the various project configuration files (.pcf) which are read from this directory. • V7std The V7std directory contains all the CADD Standards for MicroStation and GEOPAK v7. • V8istd The V8istd directory contains all the CADD Standards for MicroStation and GEOPAK V8i.
