MORETON-IN-MARSH BOWLS CLUB Report from Mike Wainwright Victory in the South Africa Cup The final of the South Africa Cup was contested by Burfod B.C. and Moreton-in-Marsh B.C. on Chadlington`s green towards the end of July. In a very exciting finish to the game Moreton gradually reduced a 9 shot deficit to snatch victory on the last end of the match. The final score was 36 shots to 33 shots. Photograph L > R. Allan Ferguson , Joe Scott , Alan Pearson, David Watts , Doreen Attewell , Tilly Pearson , Wendy Watts and Rita Gerry. £2012 Raised ! Just a few weeks later , at the beginning of August , the Bowls Club held its annual fund-raising event in and around The Victoria Hall in Bourton-on-the-Water. The hot , sunny weather had attracted large numbers of people to the area and , amazingly , a total of £2012 was raised for the Club! This included a very generous and unexpected donation made by a visitor from Thailand who , for one particular race , bought 70 ducks , won the cash prize and then immediately returned it to Club funds ! Thanks to everyone who contributed to this very happy and successful day.
