The Prairies in Autumn

Three things are new for the third Ateliers de Rennes:
Editorials
- A new team. Lucidar, under the leadership of Anne Bonnin, Is responsible for the artistic
programme as well as practical organisation of the event.
- A new location. The main exhibitions will be shared between the new FRAC Bretagne
headquarters and the Newway Mabilais. The Newway Mabilais is a major architectural
landmark in the cityscape of Rennes.
- New dates. After two biennials in the spring, this edition will run from September to
December.
Some changes, but the spirit of the Ateliers de Rennes remains the same: a desire to bring
before a wide audience a meeting of art and business, the public sector (Greater Rennes) and
the private sector (Art Norac).
The Biennale will present the relationship between art and business, and cooperation
between the public and private sectors, particularly Rennes Métropole and Art Norac, to a
wide audience. In addition to this, several contemporary art galleries and organisations are
linked to the event through their exhibitions.
This year’s artistic programme is inspired by the multifaceted concept of the pioneer. Les
Prairies (the Prairies - title of this Biennale) are throwing open to exhibition visitors all the
potential of their vast expanses.
