Figure 2 shows the values of peak acceleration <strong>and</strong> 1.0-sec pseudo spectral acceleration <strong>for</strong><br />

the selected recordings plotted versus rupture distance, RRUP.<br />

During the <strong>PEER</strong>-<strong>NGA</strong> project, the issue was raised concerning the use of data from<br />

aftershocks. We have included data from aftershocks but have allowed <strong>for</strong> the possibility<br />

that there may be systematic differences in the ground motion amplitudes produced by main<br />

shocks <strong>and</strong> aftershocks. Our reason <strong>for</strong> including the data is that they provide additional<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation to constrain the soil amplification model parameters.<br />
