weight onto the STOP. Taking up slack requires<br />

a foot support. Two solutions for slippery or<br />

overhanging rock:<br />

• put the knee in the loop above the intermediate<br />

STOP<br />

The STOP is one of the most popular belay/rappel devices with assisted<br />

braking for caving descents. The assisted braking function facilitates rope<br />

maneuvers. The STOP is positioned on the rope without removing it from<br />

the harness, thanks to its safety gate - important for avoiding dropping<br />

it when passing knots. By adding a FREINO locking carabiner, you can<br />

easily adjust the braking and thus the speed of the descent. Useful when<br />

the rope is sliding too quickly through the device: new or muddy, heavy<br />

user.<br />

5. The rope is free for the rest of the<br />

party to continue descending.<br />
