Progressing, sharing...
Since our beginnings in caving, Petzl's mission has remained
constant: to design practical tools that help people to operate
in vertical and/or dark environments. After Fernand Petzl's first
production run of ascenders and descenders in his workshop,
the family business began to apply caving tools to other
vertical environments: first to alpine activities, with climbing and
mountaineering, then to professional activities, with work at height
and rescue in difficult locations.
Beyond the equipment itself, mountaineering, climbing or caving
at any level requires solid preparation. Being prepared means
having the knowledge and practical experience in the activity, with
one ultimate goal: the ability to face different situations, whether
basic, unexpected or emergency, and reduce the risk of an
accident.
At Petzl, we are committed to sharing our technical expertise with
our user communities, an obvious connection. With this in mind,
we have been providing resources (notices, catalogs, website,
videos) and in-the-field activities for a long time. Our training
and experimentation center in Crolles (France) now allows us to
go even further in this direction. The 2012 catalog that you are
holding is of course part of this commitment.
We wish you fantastic adventures to come!
