PENTATHLON INSTITUTE<br />
Where There is Always Time For Learning<br />
The Pentathlon Institute is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities to link manipulatives, problem-solving games/activities,<br />
and printed resource books and manuals with inservice and experience-based learning. The Institute offers teachers, parents, and administrators<br />
the following services:<br />
SUMMER WORKSHOPS for teachers, administrators and teacher trainers. Each summer the Institute’s staff offers a series of<br />
workshops ranging from two to five days in length. (Call 317-356-6284 for a free summer flyer.) Some of the sessions that are<br />
featured include:<br />
<strong>MATHEMATICS</strong> PENTATHLON ®: Participants learn the series of interactive problem-solving games and related activities and how<br />
to integrate the games with ongoing classroom instruction<br />

TOURNAMENT<br />
<strong>MATHEMATICS</strong> EXPERIENCE-BASED APPROACH (MEBA<br />
®<br />
): This developmental approach fosters mathematical understanding<br />
by building deliberate connections among physical models, pictures, and symbols and associated concepts and<br />
procedures. Participants in this workshop learn how to integrate problem solving with spatial visualization, cooperative<br />
learning, and the use of oral and written language to communicate mathematical concepts and relationships.<br />
OTHER WORKSHOPS on geometry, fractions, and algebra<br />
AWARENESS WORKSHOPS give an overview of the Mathematics Pentathlon program or MEBA. For details call 317-549-3232.<br />

A WIDE VARIETY OF INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES including physical and pictorial models, an instructional series of interactive<br />
problem-solving games/activities, and printed instructional books, manuals, problem-solving worksheets, and assessment ideas<br />

<strong>NATIONAL</strong> <strong>MATHEMATICS</strong> PENTATHLON TOURNAMENT Hosted by interested schools, school districts, or universities, this academic experience<br />
is designed to provide students with an opportunity to assess their ability to “think on their feet” and at the same time<br />
provide teachers, administrators, and parents with a means to help students learn the fundamental skills of future leadership,<br />
