Test substance: <strong>C16</strong>/C<strong>18</strong> Alpha olefins, isomerised<br />

Species/strain: Guineapig/Hartley White<br />

Number of animals: 20 test animals<br />

10 primary challenge naïve control animals;<br />

10 rechallenge naïve control animals<br />

Test method: OECD TG 406 - Buehler test<br />

Induction procedure: Test animals:<br />

Days 1, 7 and 14: 0.3 mL of neat test substance in mineral oil<br />

applied, via a Hill Top Chamber, to the clipped skin of the<br />

left shoulder for a 6 hour period;<br />

Challenge procedure: 1 st challenge:<br />

test and naïve control animals:<br />

Day 28: same procedure as induction phase except 5% w/v<br />

test substance in mineral oil was applied to a previously non<br />

treated site.<br />

2 nd challenge:<br />

Day 35: same procedure as for 1 st challenge except<br />

previously non exposed naïve animals were used.<br />

Challenge outcome:<br />

Grading of dermal responses occurred 24 and 48 hours post<br />

exposure.<br />
