PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE
Happy New
Year – I hope you
all had a relaxing
holiday break
and are ready to
start the year
with a new
resolution –
attend your
local ASHRAE
meetings to meet new people and
learn a few new technical items
along the way. I know, I know –
we are all busy and have only so
many hours to spend between
work and family and squeezing in
those couple hours of sleep a
night. So, to help you keep your
resolution of attending your
ASHRAE chapter meetings, please
use the following top 10 list of
“Why we Love Orange Empire
ASHRAE”:
10. There is nothing on TV on
Tuesday Nights.
9. The Holiday Inn can be
reached by at least 4 highways
and 10 surface routes – traffic
jams can be avoided.
8. You are likely sitting next to
a future client, employer or
employee at every meeting.
7. Free advice given for any
problem you have – you just need
to ask.
6. Two new topics every month.
5. Get to wear a cool orange
nametag (gold for all those past
presidents).
4. Bar has free snacks.
3. Three course meal at every
meeting.
2. The Technical Session is free.
1. Get to leave work early to
make it to the meeting on time.
With five meetings left this
Society Year, I know there is at
least one topic that you are
interested in – be it System Integration,
Smoke Control, or Computer Hackers.
Please take the time to plan for your
upcoming Chapter meetings and get the
most out of your Chapter.
In closing, I do want to recognize all of
the hard work put into our December
meeting. As a joint meeting with the
Southern California and Tri-County
Chapters, great efforts were put forth
by Darren Smith, Ed Shoemaker, and
Steve Rawski. We had a great turnout
for Jan Sundell – an ASHRAE
Distinguished Lecturer who presented on
the History of Ventilation. I also wanted
to recognize all of the vendors and
representatives who had tabletops at the
meeting – this provides us with current
information on items we don’t always
consider in our busy schedules.
Please maximize your member value –
participate. Chad Dorgan, President,
