Comments: Macoma petalum is recognized as genetically distinct from the boreal and European M. balthica (Vainola<br />

2003). Its range along the Pacific Coast has not been determined, but there are introduced populations in the San<br />

Francisco Estuary and other estuaries in central/northern California, Oregon, and Washington.<br />
