Comments: Khawia iowensis is an intestinal parasite of the carp, Cyprinus carpio, which is primarily freshwater but can<br />

occur in estuaries. Presumably, K. iowensis is native to the same range as C. carpio - rivers in temperate Eurasia,<br />

specifically the Black, Caspian and Aral Sea basins - and introduced in areas where C. carpio is not native.<br />
