Comments: Acanthophora spicifera was described from the Caribbean, and is considered native to the Caribbean by
many sources. However, Carlton and Eldredge (2009) list it as native to the Indo-Pacific. Based on the assumption that
it is native to the Central Indo-Pacific, the Atlantic populations are classified as NIS, as are the Line Islands (Knapp et
al., 2011).
