Comments: The benthopelagic Gambusia affinis is native to the Mississippi River basin and now has a nearly panglobal<br />

distribution. It generally inhabits freshwater, but is also found in brackish environments, and in Hawaii is found<br />

at salinities as high as 40 psu. It was frequently introduced for mosquito control.<br />
