Comments: Anguilla australis is a catadromous, benthopelagic eel native to Australia and New Zealand. It was<br />

introduced into the NEP but did not become established. The FAO states that it is "probably established" in Japan.<br />

However, FishBase states that the A. australis introduced into Japan and China are not established and unknown,<br />

respectively.<br />
