Mean seasonal precipitation on valley and mesa lands <strong>of</strong> the Colorado<br />

Desert Area for the period from 1897-98 to 1946-47 is estimated to have<br />

been 2,030,000 acre-feet, as shown in Table 81. Precipitation records are<br />

so scattered in this Area that this estimate is no more than a rough<br />

approximation. Although nearly half <strong>of</strong> the Colorado Desert Area is<br />

classed as valley or mesa land, rainfall upon it is generally so light that<br />

aggregate contribution from this source to the <strong>State</strong>'s water resources<br />

is <strong>of</strong> little practical significance.
