Liquids in hand baggage
The European Union (EU) regulations concerning liquids in
hand baggage also apply in Switzerland to passengers who are
departing from Switzerland or are passing through the country
in transit.
Only containers holding a maximum of 100 ml (1 dl) are
permitted in hand baggage (liquids, gels, creams, etc.)
• The containers (tubes, tubs, bottles) must
fit comfortably into a transparent, re-sealable
plastic bag (e.g. a freezer bag) up to one
litre in capacity.
• The plastic bag must be presented for
examination at the airport security check.
• One plastic bag is allowed per person. This
also applies to children and infants.
The following are excluded from this restriction:
• Prescription medicines in liquid form. Passengers may take as
much of these on board with them as required for the entire
journey. Please have your medical certificate with you.
• Over-the-counter medicines (nasal sprays, contact lens cleaning
solution, etc.) may also be taken on the plane with you (as
much as required for the journey).
• Baby food – as much as required for the journey.
Duty-free articles may still be purchased in quantities greater
than 100 ml. These will be sealed in a plastic bag in-store.

Specific restrictions apply to certain items carried in hold baggage.

Special regulations apply to some passengers travelling to the
US (www.tsa.gov) and to countries outside the EU.
Please note the following important information concerning
hand baggage:
• Do not carry more than you really need in your hand baggage.
• Any permitted liquids that you buy prior to check-in should be
packed in your hold baggage.
• Observe any special security regulations that your airline may
have.
