Liquids in h<strong>and</strong> baggage<br />

The European Union (EU) regulations concerning liquids in<br />

h<strong>and</strong> baggage also apply in Switzerl<strong>and</strong> to passengers who are<br />

departing from Switzerl<strong>and</strong> or are passing through the country<br />

in transit.<br />

Only containers holding a maximum of 100 ml (1 dl) are<br />

permitted in h<strong>and</strong> baggage (liquids, gels, creams, etc.)<br />

• The containers (tubes, tubs, bottles) must<br />

fit comfortably into a transparent, re-sealable<br />

plastic bag (e.g. a freezer bag) up to one<br />

litre in capacity.<br />

• The plastic bag must be presented for<br />

examination at the airport security check.<br />

• One plastic bag is allowed per person. This<br />

also applies to children <strong>and</strong> infants.<br />

The following are excluded from this restriction:<br />

• Prescription medicines in liquid form. Passengers may take as<br />

much of these on board with them as required for the entire<br />

journey. Please have your medical certificate with you.<br />

• Over-the-counter medicines (nasal sprays, contact lens cleaning<br />

solution, etc.) may also be taken on the plane with you (as<br />

much as required for the journey).<br />

• Baby food – as much as required for the journey.<br />

Duty-free articles may still be purchased in quantities greater<br />

than 100 ml. These will be sealed in a plastic bag in-store.<br />

Please observe the safety regulations on page 19.<br />

Specific restrictions apply to certain items carried in hold baggage.<br />

If in doubt, please contact your airline.<br />

Special regulations apply to some passengers travelling to the<br />

US (www.tsa.gov) <strong>and</strong> to countries outside the EU.<br />

Please note the following important information concerning<br />

h<strong>and</strong> baggage:<br />

• Do not carry more than you really need in your h<strong>and</strong> baggage.<br />

• Any permitted liquids that you buy prior to check-in should be<br />

packed in your hold baggage.<br />

• Observe any special security regulations that your airline may<br />

have.<br />
