Marian Catholic, under the sponsorship of the Springfield Dominican Sisters, is a Catholic
coeducational, college preparatory high school where students seek truth, exhibit personal
responsibility, cultivate their individual talents, and demonstrate Christian service and leadership.

Dear Marian Catholic High School Community,
When I arrived at Marian Catholic sixteen years ago, I never expected to be here to see the fine Class of
2008 graduate or to celebrate the growth of our community that this Annual Report
reflects. In fact, my first year – and a few years in between – I was almost run out
on a rail!
Having loved and grown here, I am now (like our graduating
seniors) of two minds, pulled in two directions, caught in the
liminal space of transitions. But, like our graduating seniors, it
is time…and Marian Catholic is solidly held in the fine hands
of the leadership which follows me.
For almost 50 years, the Marian Catholic High School
experience has been precious and important to parents,
the community, and – most importantly – to students.
Some young people (like Annie Novak ’08) who are
seared forever into my heart, do not get more than their
brief time at Marian Catholic. Remaining forever young,
they will always call us to the wonder, to hope, and to
untapped energy that is so close to the God Who is all potential
and ever active.
My mom says that her dad often asked her mother, “Well, Zita, where
do we go from here?” Will we be healers, creators, transformers of society?
Will we be sustainers, nurturers, builders? Will we be integrators, stewards,
dreamers, do-ers? Will Marian Catholic continue to produce Scholars with a Soul?
Of course!
The administration, teachers, staff, parents and students of Marian Catholic High School live their academic
excellence, servant leadership, and a vision of the future. They are committed to their mission to engage head and
heart, feet and hands, voice and sight, to “getting the job done.”
To all of our wonderful investors named in these pages, my thanks. To paraphrase the words of the Dominican
Blessing:
May God the Father bless you.
May God the Son heal you.
May God the Holy Spirit enlighten you and give you all you need:
eyes to see with, ears to hear with,
hands to do the work of God,
feet for walking,

Having the honor, once again of joining the team
charged with advancing this dynamic, I encourage
you to read the 2007-2008 Annual Report through the
lens of riches shared and riches revealed. Marian
Catholic High School is a community passionate
about offering, receiving, sustaining and living the
spiritual, academic, and cultural life realized through
Catholic education.
Loving our young people is primary to the mission.
Helping them to explore and develop a faith based
perspective to continue to discern and live God’s
calling is integral to their Marian Catholic experience.
Listening to our alumni and following their lead
completes the circle of riches shared, riches revealed.
A desire to connect directly with their young
counterparts through alumni funding of tuition aid,
scholarship, endowment and personal mentoring
grows with every outreach around the city and the
country.
This Annual Report also reflects the passionate
involvement and investment of our benefactors,
volunteers, families, alumni, teachers, and friends
who are convinced that the Dominican sponsored
vision and mission carried out daily at Marian
Catholic must be funded to stay strong. We are rich in
talented human resources who expect to be included
to advise the Dominican Sisters, to represent alumni
interests, to guide publicity and recruiting efforts, to
oversee our leadership program, to steer our capital
campaign and annual fund, to sponsor programs and
events for our students and families.
In addition to the student achievements listed, please
note - with sincere thanks - the roll call of fellow
investors. All of the elements of the Marian Annual
Fund, the Endowment Fund and the tremendous
achievement of The Courage to Lead Capital
Campaign represent our collective understanding that
tuition alone doesn’t do it, we do!
Continued thanks to the Dominican Sisters of
Springfield and a warm welcome to Sr. Judine
Hilbing, O.P., our new President in the 2008 school
year. Deepest thanks for the spirit and servant
leadership of Sr. M. Paul McCaughey, O.P. ’67, and her
16 year tenure devoted to expanding the institutional
excellence we continue to enjoy and celebrate. Her
leadership has been a challenge, a gift and a blessing
to all of us.

Dear Family, Friends and Benefactors of the Marian
Catholic Community,
Resilient is a word not spoken much in the English language
anymore. The ability to adjust direction and adapt to the everchanging
world is how leaders, institutions and businesses are
judged today and their futures fortified in perpetuity. This year,
as we prepare for Marian’s 50th Anniversary, the word resilient
certainly epitomizes our Past, our Present and most
importantly, our Future.
From the commitment 50 years ago of the Dominican Sisters
of Springfield, who had the foresight to establish a Catholic
College Prep High School in the southern suburbs of Chicago,
to the Leadership Center and Program our students have the
opportunity to participate in today, to the ever growing
Endowment and Scholarship Funds for the Future of our fine
institution – all realized from the heartfelt investments of
many. The pride we have from our Past instills the Faith we
have in our Future.
One can only observe in amazement the efforts of our
faculty and staff over the years to give our young men and
women every opportunity to succeed in the world as they
transition to college. A professor of mine once shared why he
chose to ‘teach’ at the University I attended, rather than
entering the public sector where I was confident he could
obtain a six-figure job quite easily: “All the money in the world
could not replace the facial expression of a young student
when a teacher is going over and over a lesson and then
suddenly sees the eyes and the smile as the student ‘gets it.’ As
an instructor, there is nothing better than to realize you have
the ability to change a young person’s life through learning.”
Without question, the faculty and staff of Marian Catholic
share this same gratification engaging our students each and
every day.
The present Leadership Training Program developed for our
students is certainly a defining moment in the education a
young person receives at Marian Catholic. The class of ’09 will
be the first to benefit from the Leadership Training Program
for the full four years. One only has to meet some of the
students (or live with the students) who have been involved in
this program to fully understand the effect the lessons learned
from this outstanding part of our curriculum are having on
our young people’s lives – not just in the Present – but for the
Future.

our growing Endowment Fund
will help Marian Catholic
maintain its academic leadership
among the top ranked high schools in
the nation. Our Advancement Office has
done an outstanding job facilitating this growth. The increase
in our annual tuition aid sponsorship fund has been
exceptional. To honor a loved one, many families continue
gifting deserving Marian students with scholarships to help
defray education costs.
A former parish pastor once encouraged seeking a ministry
and fulfilling the wishes of the Lord as a means of personal
and spiritual development. Without question, the Ministry of
Service to others is certainly embodied in the talented
members of our Faculty, Staff and Boards of Directors.
Past, Present and Future – words that embody the spirit of
being RESILIENT. Thank you to all who have shared the vision
of the Dominican Sisters 50 years ago to develop the
finest Catholic faithbased College

99% of graduates becoming college-bound to campuses across the nation

• Nearly 90 students named Advanced Placement Scholars based on obtaining exceptional
scores in more than three AP exams (287 students took 631 exams in 18 Advanced
Placement courses)
• ACT mean composite score of 24.3 with 100% participation by the Class of 2008 and 68 of
the participants meeting the academic standards for Illinois State Scholars
• Alex Tolish and Michael Tuttle named National Merit Scholars with 10 additional students
named for special recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Program

Athletics
• Installation of FieldTurf in the Spartan Stadium during the summer of 2008, allowing
football, soccer and lacrosse to compete in a state-of-the-art facility as well as enhancing
usage of the stadium for physical education classes, practices, and community groups
• Lacrosse and fencing added as choices in the list of 12 men’s and 13 women’s sport teams
that participate in the East Suburban Catholic Conference, the West Suburban Conference,
and the Metro Conference as well as in intramural competition
• Outstanding performances by traditional teams that provided excitement at the State level by
winning Third Place Class AA State trophy for women's golf and IHSA Regional championships
in men’s golf and wrestling, as well as women’s basketball, softball, and soccer
• Second Place trophy for pole vaulting won by Mitchell Erickson in the State competition of
the IHSA Track and Field events as a follow-up to the state championship captured in 2007
• Two athletes finishing in the top six at the state level in both women’s golf and wrestling

FISCAL YEAR: JULY 1, 2007 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2008
The mission of the Marian Catholic Advancement
Office is to facilitate and secure the resources, both
financial and human, which are necessary for the
school to realize its mission and vision.
The 2007-2008 school year annual giving revenue
from all sources remained firm, posting a slight
increase. With the income generated by The Courage
to Lead capital campaign (year three of five-year
pledges), Advancement operations realized its goals of
securing human and capital resources at a rate
almost three times its expenses. Reaching out and
expanding efforts to inform and invite annual and
major gift investors remains an Advancement priority.
In light of a challenging economic climate, Marian
Catholic High School’s broader financial picture
continues to be sound but cautious even as the school
funds capital improvements in anticipation of the
fulfillment of pledges to TC2L capital campaign.

The Sr. Simeon Fund
History
The Sr. Simeon Fund realizes the dream of Sr. Simeon M. McCoppin, O.P.,
bringing tuition relief to families in need. As Treasurer from 1983 to 1999,
Sr. Simeon often listened to families in crisis. Even as she offered advice on
family budgets and continued to hold everyone accountable, Sr. Simeon was
active in seeking funding for families in emergency situations. Often, she would
call upon members of her own family to assist with tuition, calling her brother and
telling him, “I have a student we need to help.”
Since Sr. Simeon’s death, others have done the listening – but the narratives are no
less compelling, and the need remains.
The Sr. Simeon Fund offers emergency tuition aid to augment the financial aid fund of the Dominican Sisters
and the limited number of Endowed Scholarships established by generous Marian Catholic High School
benefactors and the annual Endowment Golf Classic.
Criteria
The need for emergency tuition sponsorship arises many times each school year. Consideration is given to
students in good academic and disciplinary standing who experience difficulty in paying tuition because of the
sickness, death, or sudden unemployment of a parent.
The Sr. Simeon Fund is a part of the Marian Annual Fund in which gifts are directed to assist a family, whose
son or daughter is enrolled but who may not be able to continue because of a change in family finances.
Gifts restricted to tuition sponsorship are paid out the same year and recognized in the Annual Report. With
gifts above $1,000, the benefactor is invited to meet with the student and is provided a student profile.
Student Profile and Disbursement
A benefactor may elect to sponsor all or part of the cost of a Marian Catholic education. At the discretion of
the President, a full tuition gift may be split to help defray tuition for several students.
Memorials
Sr. Simeon M. McCoppin, O.P.
Donors may elect to direct gifts in memory of a family member whose faith and care are reflected in this type
of assistance. Memorials may be given by an individual or a group.
All Sr. Simeon Fund gifts are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law as they are gifted to Marian
Catholic High School without preconditions.

Ministry subsidy grants from the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, gifts made by members of the Marian Catholic family to the Sr. Simeon Fund and endowed
scholarships, comprise the sources of financial aid to students. Tuition for the 2007-2008 school year was $7,400 plus fees.
MINISTRY SUBSIDY GRANTS: DOMINICAN SISTERS OF SPRINGFIELD
Tuition aid is never funded from the tuition of other current students. Financial aid is largely made
possible through the goodness of the Dominican Sisters who have established grants to subsidize
the ministry of their Sisters. The administration of Marian Catholic has traditionally restricted their
total gift to tuition aid. Families apply for aid by submitting documentation, including income tax
information, to an outside agency which determines need.
In the 2007-2008 school year, tuition aid ranging in amounts from $220 to $2,200, totaling
$150,000, was given by the Dominican Sisters to 179 students.
The Saints Catherine and Dominic Scholarships, more extensive grants given by the Dominican
Sisters limited to one young man and one young woman at each class level, are being phased out
by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield. They totaled $20,000 in 2007-2008.
SR. SIMEON, O.P. FUND FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE
Students receive tuition relief in amounts appropriate to the situation and need during the year,
realizing a dream of Sr. M. Simeon McCoppin, O.P., MCHS Treasurer who worked with many families
to find emergency aid to supplement the funds gifted annually by the Dominican Sisters. A brochure
explaining this program, which is often used for memorials, is available by contacting the
Advancement Office.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
Endowed scholarships are awarded annually using the interest earned on monies restricted to
tuition aid by donor families. All endowed scholarship funds are invested with professional
managers and are restricted for use for annual tuition aid in keeping with the wishes of the donor
family. A one-quarter scholarship is given when the endowment reaches the $25,000 level.
Endowed aid in the amount of $97,870 was given in 2007-2008 to 28 students.

THE MORRISON FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (2)
Established by J.M. and JoAnne Morrison, strong advocates for academic recognition, this
scholarship requires academic excellence, selfless service, and involvement in school activities.
The scholarship is restricted to those with superior academic performance.
THE ERMAN C. SAVANT AND LAWRENCE J. CASSIDY FAMILIES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (2)
Established by alumni parents Edward and Betty Savant in honor of their parents who labored to
give their children an excellent education, the scholarship requires strong character and solid
academics and gives first preference to students from single-parent families.
THE MARGARET S. WRUBEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established by Frank Bracha in memory of his niece Margie who encouraged her family to
achieve, this scholarship funds one student annually who evidences character and service, with a
first preference being given to students from the East Side of Chicago.
THE BERT W. AND RITA B. MEANS SCHOLARSHIP
Established by alumni parent Nancy Rita Kaz in memory of her gentle but strong parents who
supported the Dominican Sisters of St. Christina Parish and provided Catholic education for their
own children, this scholarship is given to a young woman whose sense of Catholic service is
demonstrated.
MARIAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL GOLF ENDOWMENT CLASSIC SCHOLARSHIP (3)
With the funds accrued from the Marian Catholic High School Endowment Classic golf outing, this
fund now assists several students with partial tuition scholarships and is used for students in
good standing whose families have suffered a loss or hardship.
THE MARIAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL MOTHERS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
Established by Mothers Club officers and funded through memorials restricted to the Marian
Catholic Mothers Club and also by Marian Catholic annual gifts flowing from the Mothers Club
Fashion Show, the scholarship gives first priority to students of Mothers Club members at the
death of a parent.
THE MICHAEL J. AND DOROTHY M. MC CAUGHEY, JR. SCHOLARSHIP
Established anonymously by an alumnus of the Class of 1967, and later designated by him with
the above title, the award is pre-conditioned on the willingness of the student to later assist
others with similar need once s/he is established in a career.
THE FLANAGAN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Established by Hall of Fame inductee Terry Flanagan ’62 and his wife, Patricia LeRose Flanagan ’64, the
fund recognizes the average student who evidences extraordinary effort in every area of school life.
THE TIMOTHY ’63 AND MARY ANN (ORMSBY) ’62 O’HEA FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
As MCHS graduates whose five children also graduated from Marian Catholic, Tim and Mary Ann
O’Hea designed this family scholarship to encourage the efforts and investment of families
having three or more children at Marian Catholic at the same time.

THE KEVIN E. BEUKEMA ’97 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established by The Beukema Family in memory of Kevin, a young man of service, joy, and faith whose
young life was cut short by a drunken driver, this scholarship that bears Kevin’s name requires that a
student be willing to offer generous service in the context of academics and of faith.
THE SR. CATHERINE SIENA AND SR. MARY DENNIS O’NEILL SCHOLARSHIP
An anonymous donor is remembering her Dominican Sister grade school teachers through
endowment, restricting the recipient to a young man of humor and kindness whose parents show
a strong commitment to Catholic education.
THE AMADIO “STU” AND JO ANNE BRUNI SCHOLARSHIP
With the sudden and tragic death of Amadio “Stu” Bruni, his family and friends directed memorials in
his name to Marian Catholic. Stu's family later funded this endowed scholarship to be given to a
student who lives in Stu’s spirit-with energy, integrity, hard work, and personal poise.
THE RICHARD AND ANNE POTTS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
Established by former Student Council President and present Mercy Hospital Chief of Staff
Dr. Steven Potts, M.D. ’77 in honor of his parents, this scholarship has traditionally been given to
qualified students whose families have a medical emergency.
THE VINCENT PASCALE ’63 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Given in memory of Vince, well-loved MCHS alumnus of the Class of 1963, by his parents Dr. Luke
and Elsie Pascale, this scholarship is restricted to a solid student whose family evidences courage
in the face of illness.
THE GEORGE AND SHIRLEY KLINE SCHOLARSHIP
Shirley and George Kline (Kline’s Department Store of Chicago Heights), local residents for more than
50 years, believed education is the biggest key to success and wished to maintain their commitment
of helping young people to pursue their college prep educational goals. Through the initiative of
Shirley, the Kline’s established a scholarship to benefit children of noble, working families in Chicago
Heights and locally who want to achieve and give back to their community in return.
THE DIANE FUSHI DEFRIES ’64 SCHOLARSHIP
Given in memory of Diane DeFries ’64 by her friends (lead by Mary Ann Balfour Carlstead ’64), the
scholarship is restricted to a student sharing Diane’s love of service and/or a family who has
suffered from cancer.
THE NICOLA AND MARIA M. PASCARELLA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Given by alumni and current parent Philip Pascarella in memory of his parents, faith-filled
Catholic individuals who valued hard work and integrity, the fund is restricted to a student with a
strong work ethic who lives the Catholic faith.
THE ELIZABETH AND JOHN BITUNJAC MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was established by alumni parent Jean Fuehrmeyer in memory of her parents
whose fidelity and commitment to Catholic education were extraordinary, especially in light of
John’s blindness from World War II.
THE COURAGE TO LEAD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
This category of scholarships is given further impetus during The Courage to Lead Capital
Campaign. In the spirit of leadership, all new scholarships will carry the TC2L scholarship criteria
that the student, once established in his or her own career and family, commit to “leading” and
assisting another family in similar circumstances.
THE KRONER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Established by Peter A. Kroner, Jr., The Kroner Family Scholarship reflects passion for increasing
a student's opportunities through completing post-secondary education at the appropriate
college/university and is offered to seniors through essay application.
THE LUCILLE AND ARTHUR FERRARI FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Established by the children of Lucille and Arthur Ferrari to honor the memory of parents whose
energy, hard work, and vision created in their family a culture of entrepreneurship, integrity and
responsibility, this scholarship is especially targeted for students trained to work in The Lucille
Ferrari Bookstore.
THE MCQUADE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (Also called the “Spunk and Spirit Award”)
Through the gift of this scholarship, The McQuade Family affirms that “average” students with
“spark” can light fires of humor, kindness and courage. Special preference is given to a student
whose family is facing illness.
THE GRIFFIN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Established by Dan and Holly Griffin as a response to young people called to service and
leadership, this scholarship recognizes that students and families form the key to Marian
Catholic’s future in their willingness to share with others what has been shared with them.
THE JACK GALLAGHER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Established in the spirit of an entrepreneurial and loving family, The Jack Gallagher Family
Scholarship is awarded to a student who is distinguished by a strong work ethic, integrity,
humor, and initiative.
THE RIPPEY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Established and funded by Michael and Cherie Rippey, this scholarship was established to assist
qualified students, having financial need, to attend Marian Catholic High School without constant
concern about how to meet the cost of such attendance.
THE KEVIN RIPPEY ’05 SCHOLARSHIP
Established and funded by Kevin’s parents, Michael and Cherie Rippey, this scholarship
recognizes the value of a Catholic high school education and is based on the beliefs of The
Rippey Family Scholarship. The scholarship, in the spirit of all scholarships emerging through
The Courage to Lead, speaks to a moral obligation of giving freely to another what we have
been freely given: opportunity.
THE HELEN AND HARRY HOWISEN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Gifted by alumni parents who value the Catholic faith, the Howisen Scholarship is given to a
young person with hard work and courage who faces chronic health issues or difficulties.

THE HOGAN-KING FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Initiated by Dick King in honor of his wife, Mary Kay Hogan ’78 King, this scholarship celebrates
families with a proven commitment to Catholic education, even in the face of adversity-the loss
of a parent in death, the illness of a parent which incurs crushing medical expenses, or the loss
of employment by a parent.
THE LAWRENCE AND GENEVIEVE FRAZZINI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Created by William and Carol (Frazzini) ’74 Elliott in honor of Carol's parents, in keeping with the
kindness, simplicity, and genuine refinement of Lawrence and Genevieve Frazzini, the scholarship
calls for a student who mirrors their humility, gentleness and simplicity.

Designated by the Welsh sons and daughters in honor of their parents’ 85th and 75th birthdays,
the scholarship is restricted to a good student whose parent is expending extraordinary effort to
retain the student in a Catholic high school.
THE LT. COMMANDER PATRICK J. MURPHY ’81 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is in honor of Lt. Patrick J. Murphy ’81 whose life was taken in the terrorist
attack on The Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Established by classmates of Patrick Murphy
who sought a living tribute, a yearly reminder of lives lived in courage, this ongoing scholarship is
given to a student who evidences service to God, country and family.
THE DEAN PEROZZI, JR. ’94 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established by family and friends in memory of Dean whose young life was cut short by a tragic
accident while working, the scholarship honors Dean’s love of music and the arts.
THE KEVIN F. MAHER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Given in memory of their son Kevin who was killed as a high school senior in an automobile
accident, B.K. and Frank Maher established this award which requires at least average
academics and a positive attitude reflected in involvement and service.
THE GEORGE KLUPCHAK FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
An ardent fan of every activity in which his children were involved, George Klupchak appreciated
both effort and talent. The scholarship was established in George’s name by the Klupchak family,
as well as by friends led by Tom Kubisak ’69.
THE FLAMINI FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Flowing from an understanding of loss and the memory of a friend, this scholarship honors Marian
Catholic High School alumna Gail Amos ’68 whose death came too soon, and whose gifts intersect
with the values of The Flamini Family and their own journey of caring, of children, of laughter, and
of good mischief. The scholarship is restricted to families who have experienced loss.
THE ANNE NOVAK ’08 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established by her family in memory and honor of Annie who lost her life in a car accident as a
Sophomore at Marian Catholic High School. In keeping with Annie Novak’s joyous spirit, the
Scholarship recognizes a young student whose faith makes God's love known to others. The
Novak Family has endorsed the direction of other gifts into this special fund.
THE STANLEY AND EVA WILCZYNSKI SCHOLARSHIP
As a legacy to their parents, this scholarship was established by the children of Stanley and Eva
Wilczynski: Susan ’85, Paul ’80, Michael ’77, Stanley ’74. They hope that, through this
scholarship, future students will have the same memorable experience and high quality

alumni, in honor of their parents, Connor and Anne Loesch on the occasion of their being
inducted into the Marian Catholic High School 2008 Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement. The
Loesch Family Vocation Fund will provide revenue for the promotion of religious vocations,
especially to the consecrated life of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield.
THE BENISH SCHOLARSHIP INCENTIVE is an ongoing annual gift directed toward the tuition of a
student who is willing to share The Benish Family sense of family and hard work.

anniversaries, or get well wishes. In addition to the greeting, the cards feature the Prayer of St. Dominic on the inside cover and

Memorials
Memorials for loved ones, many who represented the spirit of Marian Catholic, serve as long-term memories of friends and family. Through memorial gifts, hundreds
are remembered in the prayers and Masses of the Dominican Sisters and Marian Catholic students.
Please feel free to request a card package 708-756-6579; a replacement card is sent when word of a memorial is received.
In addition to remembering loved ones at the Sisters’ Eucharist in their Chapel, those who have offered a memorial during the previous school year are invited to a
Memorial Mass held in the MCHS Student Chapel on a Saturday evening in late October or early November.

“Ben and Annie’s lives were touched in such
a positive way at Marian, we would like to
express our appreciation and honor Annie’s
memory in the form of a scholarship. Through
this gift, we hope to make the Marian
experience a little more accessible to a student
who meets the scholarship criteria and ensure
that Annie leaves a lasting legacy. Her time
at Marian was cut tragically short, but as
evidenced in the outpouring of love expressed
by all who have known her, she has had a
positive impact and she will live forever in the
hearts of all whose lives she has touched. Her
enthusiasm, spirit, discipline and faith are
qualities that Annie had within herself,
but they were reinforced and nurtured at
Marian Catholic.”

Academic Honors &Scholarships
The College Board will name many Marian Catholic students National AP
Scholars, Scholars with Honor, and Scholars with Distinction. Unfortunately,
those official designations will not be made until after this publication has gone to
press. The editor has chosen to designate all students who meet any AP Scholar
designation simply as “AP Scholars” to avoid confusion for those students whose
status will be elevated on the basis of the number and quality of spring tests. AP
Scholars will be listed by category both in the Parent Newsletter and on the MCHS
website when College Board makes designations public.

the mistaken notion that it makes letting go easier. I am too old to make that mistake,
having left Marian Catholic first as a student, then as a teacher, and now as an
administrator. The Marian Catholic High School experience is precious and
important.
