The fifteenth volume of Hulsius’ collection of voyages. Inspite of the title page assertion that he was a Captain, Coverte was a steward on the ship Ascension, together with the ship the Union, made up the fourth voyage of the East India Company. The other three voyages under Lancaster in 1601, Middleton in 1604, and Keeling in 1607, had all been great successes. The voyage commenced in 1608 under Capt. Alex Sharpey and after the Union’s loss of mast in a storm of the Cape, she put in to the bay of St. Augustine in the south west of Madagascar for a refit. In the meantime the Ascension went on to Mozambique and the Seychelles and was wrecked near Surat. The ships company broke up and Coverte took a route overland via Persia to England.
