instructors accessible via Blackboard. Playscript- in-progress. Each student will keep a daily<br />
journal. All students will have practical written work based on their area of responsibility.<br />
Examples include scripts, designs, promptbook, concept statements, and communication<br />
tools. Homework will be, often, in the form of small group work on the play development<br />
and production, and will engage students outside of class time on a daily basis. Required<br />
Field Trip: To a local, professional theater for a workshop, rehearsal attendance, and/or<br />
backstage tour. Students are expected to make a solo or small group field trip to enhance<br />
the research phase of their work. For example, a designer may want to view an exhibition<br />
of work at the High Museum to inspire their design, a sound designer may need to go to<br />
the field to collect sound files, an actor may want to interview or observe an individual as<br />
part of their character development. Lab fee: $50. Final Examination: Presentation of play.<br />

This course is an introduction to drawing and painting, developing skills in various<br />
techniques and attitudes. Exploration of recent concepts and processes with emphasis on<br />
personal development. There is a lab fee of $45.<br />
106-00A. PHOTOGRAPHY I<br />
11:30 a .m .–2:30 p .m . TTh 1st session . Credit, 4 hrs . Noel<br />
This course will teach the basic principles of small format (35mm) black and white<br />
photography, both technical and aesthetic. Topics will include camera use and techniques,<br />
film developing, darkroom and printing skills, image selection and presentation, and<br />
an overview of the history of photography. The department will supply students with a<br />

This course in an introduction to media, techniques, theory, and practice. The focus<br />
of this course is the experimentation with the ideas and media of sculpture. Emphasis<br />
will be on the exploration of contemporary issues in relationship to individual aesthetic<br />
choices. Paper-casting techniques using recycled materials such as paper and plants will<br />
be explored. There is a lab fee of $60.<br />
Women’s Studies<br />
385-00C. WOMEN, WAR, AND PEACE<br />
8:30–9:50 a .m . Daily . 2nd session . Credit, 4 hrs . Scully<br />
This course examines women’s experiences in war and the transition to peace. Topics<br />
will include sexual violence in war time, women’s organizing for peace, and international<br />
efforts to promote women’s rights. Students will read articles and primary sources and<br />
view films.<br />
