A school zone speed limit <strong>of</strong> 20 mph applies on roads adjacent to a school between the hours <strong>of</strong> 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.<br />

on school days, or when yellow lights are flashing. At crosswalks marked as school zones, the limits apply either when<br />

yellow lights are flashing or when children are present — meaning that children are in the crosswalk, waiting on the curb or<br />

shoulder, or that a traffic patrol member is present to assist children (§811.124).<br />

A person commits this <strong>of</strong>fense if he/she operates a vehicle "in a manner that endangers or would be likely to endanger<br />

any person or property." §811.135(1)<br />

If the <strong>of</strong>fense contributed to an accident, it is a Class A Traffic Violation. §§801.550 and 811.135(2). The sanction for<br />
