1. Course title<br />

Choice of Conversatorium - Logical aspects of communication<br />

2. Course contents<br />

Basic terms of communication theory. Logic and conversation. Art of argumentation. Discussion: arguments and<br />

contra arguments in discussion, rules of rational discussion , disloyal eristic tricks. Persuasion: formal analysis of<br />

the term persuasion (s<strong>im</strong>ple persuasive acts, persuasion as a process), exper<strong>im</strong>ental research over persuasion,<br />

doubling of persuasion, ELM model. Manipulation: pressure, blackmail and lie as naive manipulation<br />

techniques. Beliefs: the components of the beliefs, faith and knowledge, the principle of retrospection, logic<br />

elements of conscious beliefs.<br />

4. Learning outcomes<br />

Graduate gains extended knowledge of information useful to analyze communication phenomenon, and thereby<br />

he or she enriches his or her set of terms from logical pragmatics and argumentation theory as well as masters<br />

practical abilities in the scope of communication.<br />
