Choice of Conversatorium – Political culture<br />

2. Course contents<br />

Historical meaning of the term of political culture. Polish experience – expanding of the term. Models and<br />

conceptions of political culture of: G. Almond, J.J. Wiatr i M. Sobolewski. The term of culture versus political<br />

culture. Popular understanding of political culture. Political culture’s functions. Benchmarking of political<br />

culture. Models of political culture(Types: political culture of G. Almond, culture of social democracy,<br />

totalitarian culture, hermitage culture, American individualism culture, state’s capitalism culture, military<br />

culture, egalitarian culture, market culture, fatalistic culture). Informative systems affecting political culture.<br />

Mass media in the process of shaping political culture. Role of political culture in shaping public opinion.<br />

4. Learning outcomes<br />

Graduate can identify problems from the scope of political culture term as well as problems connected with<br />

determining the essence of the phenomenon and ambiguities related to popular understanding of political culture<br />

and based on scientific criteria. Student understands political culture influence on policy field functioning.<br />
