Diploma seminar<br />

2. Course contents<br />

This seminar will explicate the principles of writing a graduation thesis. This will include: its substantive aspects<br />

and the drafting and editing aspects of the writing process; the meaning of critical thinking and research methods<br />

used in pedagogy; determination and formulation of thesis subject and definition of thesis goals; plan of work;<br />

ethical aspects of thesis writing (i.e. risk of plagiarism and its consequences); the researcher’s ethical code;<br />

analysis of source text and gathering and work on the sources; writing chapters; discussing problems related to<br />

the thesis and searching for solutions in the colloquium group setting; the final stage of writing: editing the<br />

preface, creating a bibliography and annexes, correcting mistakes, and having the thesis accepted and marked.<br />

3. Prerequisites<br />

The requirements defined in <strong>PWSZ</strong> regulations.<br />

4. Learning outcomes<br />

The main goal of the diploma seminar is to increase students’ knowledge in specified science fields, to <strong>im</strong>prove<br />

their abilities of critical thinking and study of research methods, to extend their abilities of defining investigation<br />

problems and to search for creative solutions<br />
