Acquisition of the following linguistic competences:<br />

In the scope of listening – The student can recognize and understand phrases and the highest frequency<br />

vocabulary related to areas of most <strong>im</strong>mediate personal relevance (e.g. money, transport and travel,modern<br />

manners). He can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters. He can understand the<br />

main point of many radio or TV programmers on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest<br />

when the delivery is relatively slow and clear.<br />

In the scope of reading – The student can read the texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or jobrelated<br />

language. He can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes.<br />

In the scope of speaking – The student can communicate in s<strong>im</strong>ple and routine tasks requiring a s<strong>im</strong>ple and<br />

direct exchange of information during the trip around the country where the language is used. He can handle<br />

very short social exchanges related to current affairs. He can use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in<br />

s<strong>im</strong>ple terms his experience and the everyday events, his dreams, hopes and ambitions. He can give reasons and<br />

explain his opinions and plans.<br />

In the scope of writing – The student can write s<strong>im</strong>ple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal<br />

interest. He can write an informal letter, a house or flat advertisement.<br />

The placement test for level B1<br />

4.Learning outcomes<br />

The knowledge of the foreign language on the level B1 defines the ability to use the foreign language on the<br />

independent level in the scope of understanding, speaking and writing. The person using the language on this<br />

level can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work,<br />

school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is<br />

spoken. Can produce s<strong>im</strong>ple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe<br />

experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and<br />

plans.<br />
