Pedagogy<br />

Description of areas and specialisation<br />

Pedagogical studies last six semesters and graduate with Bachelor of Art degree. During that period<br />

students gain the knowledge and abilities to work with children, teenagers as well as with adults.<br />

Pedagogy conducts 3 majors that are chosen on 3 rd semester : social work, childcare education with<br />

health promoting, integrated preschool education with English language. Pedagogy graduates are<br />

able to continue the education on Post Graduated studies at universities.<br />

Social Work Specialization<br />

The goal of the specialization – the social work, is to prepare graduates to fulfill the function of<br />

social worker in social service system and social worker mainly in institutions subordinated to local<br />

government (social welfare, family aid, welfare-educational institution) and in non-government<br />

institutions. These social workers should possess indispensable skills to be able to identify social<br />

needs of people, families and social groups, clumsy, uncap able to work, handicapped and sick<br />

people. The selection of content and teaching forms is oriented to deliver graduates a combination<br />

of practical skills connected with organizing of social need in individual and group d<strong>im</strong>ension<br />

which allows more fulfilled and independent existence in the society. It will also deliver graduates<br />

skills connected with monitoring and conducting of counseling in social needs, carrying out<br />

educational-rehabilitative and prophylactic tasks towards charges. The graduates will possess<br />

indispensable knowledge within the scope of family and welfare law, labor law and social<br />

insurance, functioning of social services and employment offices. They will also possess:<br />

1) pedagogical skills- providing with counseling and applying of sociotherapy elements,<br />

formulating of social diagnosis and aid plan, applying of methods and techniques of social<br />

work;<br />

2) social skills- establishing of contact, showing of kindly interest, warmth and empathy,<br />

conducting of mediation and negotiation, appearing on public forum, activating of local<br />

communities;<br />

3) skills in applying law in social practice- using of law regulations, making of documents analysis<br />

and proper interpretation of regulations:<br />

4) skills in area of social an<strong>im</strong>ation- creative resolving of social problems, work organization,<br />

leading groups of people, initializing and co-fulfilling of social programmers, creating of human<br />

attitude and relations, gaining of funds for realization of social aid goals<br />

5) skills in reflection about social reality<br />

Specialisation of Childcare Education with Health Promoting<br />

The goal of the Childcare education with health promoting specialisation is to prepare specialists<br />

to take up an educational work (educational, caring, compensatory) with children and youth who are<br />

permanently or currently devoided of parental care or who are coming from environments which are<br />

educationally inefficient. Expending the competencies of a graduate with health promoting, we<br />

ensure one the possibility of undertaking educational activities in the area of health education and<br />

health promotion considering the, wards and their families as well as different social groups on<br />

local and regional level. It is connected with broadening of earning and hiring possibilities. The<br />

graduate with bachelor degree will give evidence of wide pedagogical competencies in the area of:<br />
