1. Course title<br />

Project and innovation management.<br />

2. Course contents<br />

Lectures:<br />

The essence and kinds of projects (undertakings) and their features. Functional problems of project management.<br />

Institutional problems of project management. Personnel problems of project management. Selected methods of project<br />

management. The essence of innovation and factors shaping innovativeness. Organisation and structure of the process of<br />

innovation management. Methods and techniques of creative thinking used in innovation management. Technical and<br />

economic evaluation of innovative projects.<br />

Project:<br />

Case exercises based on the subject curriculum.<br />

3. Prerequisites<br />

Passing the “Decision support systems and knowledge management” course.<br />

4. Learning outcomes:<br />

Having acquired the project and innovation management knowledge and other areas of studies the students are able to:<br />

• identify the essence and kinds of projects (undertakings) and their features,<br />

• organise the process of preparation and <strong>im</strong>plementation of projects,<br />

• prepare organisational structures for the <strong>im</strong>plementation of projects and organise a project team,<br />

• plan the process of project <strong>im</strong>plementation (project cost est<strong>im</strong>ate) and est<strong>im</strong>ate the <strong>im</strong>plementation risk,<br />

• compare project management information systems,<br />

• identify the essence of innovation and factors shaping innovativeness,<br />

• present selected methods and techniques of creative thinking used in innovation management,<br />

• make a technical and economic evaluation of innovative projects, depending on market conditions and the type of<br />

organization.<br />
