Course contents Thematic scope of the course: − Business invitation to a restaurant (in a letter or a phone call) − “Savoir a vivre” at the table, indicating seating places to the guests, reacting to news, providing information about eating habits − analysis of graph data, describing a graph (demography, economy, consumption, trade) − selling a product and trade fair service: presentation, giving opinion, providing precise information about the product or service − telephone or mail contact with a business partner: enquiry, request, offer − formal elements of a business letter − salutation and closing formula in private and business correspondence − selected forms of commercial correspondence − filling in a form, phrases typical for forms − names of goods and services 3. Prerequisites none 4. Learning outcomes The student acquires language abilities at one of the levels (A1-B2; depends on the language competence exam results). The student can describe selected professional situations, compare and discuss survey results, analyze tables, charts, statistics, provide main information presented in the professional texts. The student can present individual opinion and argument it. He acquires language skills needed in the cooperation with foreign business partners in the field of General English as well as acquires sufficient knowledge to pass TELC language examination (at appropriate level). 5. Course contents Lecture 1. Historical outline of the development of CAD/CAM systems. 2. Methods of representation of an engineering design. 3. Geometric constructions. 4. Methods of description of CAD 3D models in CAD systems. 5. Views, cross-sections and revolved sections, dimensioning. 6. Dimensional, geometrical and positional tolerances, as well as the principles of determining surface roughness. 7. Drawing joints. 8. Classes Methods of modelling products. The classes include practical exercises in solid modelling of geometry of machine parts in a CAD 3D system, assigning parameters and dimensions to the parts being designed, creating assemblies basing on previously modelled parts, and preparing 2D documentation. 3. Prerequisites Getting credit for the subject “Computer-aided engineering work - CAM/CAD” 4. Learning outcomes The students are familiar with the most recent CAD software for modelling 2D and 3D geometry, creating assemblies from previously designed components, and preparing 2D documentation for the designed machine parts. The students are familiar with basic problems connected with generating tool paths for NC machine tools.
