Theory of machines
2. Course contents
Analogies of agreements on the different physical form: mechanical, electric, plumbing, air, thermal. Definitions of the
machine. Classification of machines from a point of view of donating them. Examples of machines for every group.
Classification of machines from a point of view of processing energy. - examples. „Typical" - repeatable elements and
teams of machines - classification around regards for criteria: of the transferred load and the relative move. Typical
characteristics of straining the structure of machines and devices. The safety factor of the structure of the machine or
devices. The notion and the way of determining its value. Of connecting of elements machines. The definition and the
ranking of connections. Welded and welded connections. Tolerance and of fitting. Connection shapes and forced-in
join. Rolling and sliding bearings. Embankments and axes. Permanent and disconnected clutches. Basic notions:
definitions, the primitive and secondary sources of energy, receivers of the energy, functions realized by the driving
arrangement. Of transferring and coupled hydrokinetics, hydrostatic transmission gear. Discussing realized functions by
driving arrangements. Elements of arrangements of the drive and plumbing and air steering. Materials handling
machines. Internal-combustion engines. Displacement machines: pumps, compressors and engines. Flow machines:
pumps, blowers, compressors, turbines, and the like. Home appliances. Electric machines: engines and generators of the
permanent and alternating electricity. Machines and power systems pot + steam turbine + generator + transformer.
Training practice:
Team work consisting in presenting the chosen group of machines from the determined set. Scope of the study (report)
and includes the presentation:
1. The description of action and donating the machine.
2. The principles of operation - on what laws of physics, chemistry, biology and the like a being is resisting
it.
a. realization of the main function
b. realization of support functions
3. Material (structure) build
4. Measure of the productivity (e.g.. m 3 /h, m 2 /h, tonokilometry/g fuel) or efficiency (e.g. efficiency in %)
5. Examples (concrete) of the machine or the machine team. Different representatives of the given group
(families) of machines.
3. Prerequisites:
the engineering graphics, mechanics and the durability of materials, fluid mechanics and the thermodynamics, of the
electrician and the electronics engineer
4. Learning outcomes:
Making oneself acquainted with essential problems of the mechanical engineering (the technical idea of fulfilling needs,
the design and the production of machines and devices of the user, and the like). Making oneself acquainted with
elements of machines and groups of milles and energy machines. Making oneself acquainted with technical systems
