Lecture<br />

Basic meanings and definitions. Productivity. Production as a product value added process. Strategic and operational<br />

decisions in production management. Production management objectives. Financial and operational production<br />

management indicators. Logistics principles of production management. Production flow parameters: lead t<strong>im</strong>e, stocks,<br />

production lot. Production management strategic decisions: Product choice, Process choice, Production capacity<br />

planning, Layout planning, Work system. Production planning levels. Sales and Operation Planning. Master<br />

Scheduling. Inventory Management. Materials Requirement Planning. Scheduling and Production Activity Control.<br />

Classes<br />

Product’s opt<strong>im</strong>al choice. Using of Break Even Point model in process choice decisions. Production capacity planning.<br />

Modeling of production processes. Project of production layout planning. Methods of lead t<strong>im</strong>e decreasing. Concurrent<br />

flow of lots. Using of Gantt’s chart and Johnson’s algorithm in production control. Production planning strategies.<br />

Using of transportation matrix in production planning. EOQ models and their using in Inventory management.<br />

4. Learning outcomes<br />

A student can explain the basic issues and differences of strategic and operational production management decisions. A<br />

student can do an analysis, assessment and choice of the structure of production processes and systems. A student gains<br />

skills of using the modern strategies and methods of production planning and control as well as inventory management.<br />
