Introduction to technique<br />

2. Course contents:<br />

Lecture:<br />

Definition of technique and technical systems. Technique and civilization. Professional features of engineer.<br />

Mathematics, physics and chemistry role as bases of technical science. Productive process vs. technological process.<br />

Structure of technological processes. Structure of design and construction process. Computer aided design (CAD).<br />

Characteristic of production in different technique branches: building, machine constructing, electrical and electronic<br />

engineering, food and chemical engineering. Part of computerization in productive processes realization: Computer<br />

aided manufacturing (CAM), Computer integrated manufacturing (CIM).<br />

New technique and technology transfer into industry. Technique and technology part in economic progress. Technique<br />

and natural environment. Recycling.<br />

Classes:<br />

Definition of machine and machine systems by UE directive. Systems of control and regulation – functions and tasks on<br />

chosen examples. Experts’ systems, artificial intelligence, neural networks – intelligent machines and appliances.<br />

Automation and robotization of factories of XXI century vs. unemployment. Contribution of mechanical technologies,<br />

automation and robotization in chosen techniques fields: construction of machine and vehicles; construction of roads,<br />

bridges, buildings; chemical processes’ engineering. Technical systems vs. exploitations’ processes, like: friction,<br />

fatigue, corrosion, etc. Diagnostics and monitoring. Technological progress vs. natural environment in regional and<br />

global scope. Dominating role of computer science in civilization development of human race. Global informatics<br />

village.<br />

4. Learning outcomes:<br />

Students are familiar with basic knowledge concerning technique and technology and the part they take in civilization<br />

and social-economical progress.<br />
