Lecture<br />

Substance and kinds of social politics. Role of the state in the economy and society: a) welfare theory, b) neoliberalism,<br />

c) ordoliberalism, d) monetarism. European social politics and future of the social state in Europe (social<br />

d<strong>im</strong>ension of the European integration, social standards, genesis and future of the social state in Europe). Changes of<br />

the life standard (level, quality and dignity of life. Conceptions, institutions and instruments to prevent poverty and<br />

social marginalisation. Restructuring of the social services in Poland (subjection of the social services sector to charges,<br />

consumption of social services). Labour market in the market economy. Employment policy instruments against<br />

unemployment. Heath system in Poland and Heath systems In Europe. Heath services accessibility problem – spatial,<br />

organisational and economical accessibility aspects. Transformations of the social structure in Poland. New<br />

manifestations of social pathologies. Educational policy. Models of the educational policy. Educational policy in the<br />

countries of the EU. Population policy. Modern tendencies in the development of the population in Poland and the<br />

world. Housing policy in Poland. Instruments of the housing policy. Civil social policy. Development perspectives of<br />

the social economy in Poland..<br />

3. Prerequisites<br />

General knowledge of the economy and knowledge of the sociology.<br />

4. Learning outcomes<br />

Transfer to students of the knowledge about the social politics in Poland and the countries of the EU, especially<br />

showing of the meaning and realisation conditions of the social policy (links to the economy) and of the substance and<br />

functioning of the basic particular politics, e.g. social securing, labour market and their subjects, underneath local<br />

governmental and governmental.<br />

Exercising of the skills to identify of different phenomenons and processes occurring in the society, affecting the life<br />

standard, and in particular of the ability to analyse the causes and effects and to apply the knowledge in practice,<br />

underneath to formulate the measures for different particular politics.<br />
