Boccadasse > GENOVESATO EMOTIONS BY THE SEA The ancient city with an eye on the sea This city appears to desperately cling onto the steep hillsides of the great arc of coast which stretches for almost 40km. From Pegli to its west and Nervi to its east Genoa’s tall, narrow, brightly painted buildings huddled alongside grand frescoed palaces help evoke the intriguing atmosphere of Genoa’s golden age as a powerful maritime Republic. Today, Genoa La Superba has decided to renew its alliance with the sea by restoring and reopening the Porto Antico (the city’s historic port) and waterfront. Genoa is also home to the magical underwater world of the biggest aquarium in Europe and has renovated the legendary village of Boccadasse. It has also worked extensively to restore Nervi to its former splendour of the belle époque, which for its mild climate has always been hugely popular with Italian and foreign tourists, however, this can be said of all of the panoramic villages of the Paradiso Gulf.
