212. ‘Ali Bin Maymun al‐Sa’igh<br />

He has been given the nickname of Abu al‐Akrad (the father of the Kurds). He narrated traditions<br />

on the authority of Abi ‘Abd Allah and Abi al‐Hasan, peace be on them. He has a book narrated by<br />

a group of narrators.[2]<br />

213. ‘Ali Bin Yaqteen Bin Musa al‐Baghdadi<br />

He was the master of the Banu Asad. He is among the notables of this sect (i.e., the Shi‘a). He had<br />

a remarkable prestige and high position with Imam Abi al‐Hasan Musa, peace be on him. The<br />

following is a brief outline on some of his affairs and conditions:<br />

A. His Birth<br />

He was born in Kufa, in the year 124 A. H.[3] That was during the last days of the Umayyad<br />

government.<br />

B. His Early Life<br />

He grew up in Kufa. He sold abzar in it.[4] His father Yaqteen was among those who believed in<br />

the Imamate. He carried money and gifts to Imam al‐Sadiq, peace be on him.[5] He was among<br />

the summoners to the ‘Abbasid State. So Merwan al‐Himar (the Donkey) ordered him to be<br />

arrested, and he escaped from him; his wife along with her two sons ‘Ali and ‘Ubayd Allah fled to<br />

Medina. When the Umayyad State came to an end and the ‘Abbasid State was formed, she along<br />

with her two sons returned to her homeland. At that time the affair of Yaqteen appeared and his<br />

name became famous. He <strong>com</strong>municated with Abi al‐‘Abbas al‐Saffah, al‐Mansur, and al‐Mehdi.<br />

Someone informed them that he believed in the Imamate, but Allah, the Most High, turned away<br />

from him the scheming of the treacherous. When Yaqteen moved to the True Abode (i.e., died),<br />

his son ‘Ali succeeded him; he firmly <strong>com</strong>municated with the ‘Abbasid and assumed some<br />

important offices in the State; meanwhile, he relieved and helped the Shi‘ites; he repelled from<br />
