This 1857 landscape plan is a part of the Watson papers in the manuscript department of the Perkins<br />

Library of Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. The Watson’s were very early in the Greensboro, a 1856 map<br />

shows that Henry Watson shows owned a large rectangular piece of property near the center of town, just to the<br />

north of the main street. He graduated from a college in Connecticut, was a planter in the county and had been the<br />

headmaster a local academy for a number of years. Presumably the landscape plan was for that property in<br />

Greensboro. Compiled and submitted by George R. Stritikus.<br />
