‘perfection’ BW?
Ben waterworth: The Geelong Football Club?
Bws: Can’t you remember 2008? What about 2010?
Bw: What happened?
Bws: Don’t be smart. Three out of five isn’t bad, but it’s not
perfection.
Bw: Fine. So what comes to your mind when I say ‘perfection’?
Bws: Last Saturday at the Park Orchards Football Club.
Bw: Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect start to an EFL
campaign, right?
Bws: Three wins from three games. Under 19’s, Reserves and
Seniors. Bang, bang, bang.
Bw: You mean Development Squad.
Bws: What?
Bw: Not Reserves side. Development Squad.
Bws: How come?
Bw: That’s what the Sharks have dubbed their seconds team.
Bws: An idea used in the VFL for years now. It has a nice ring to it.
Bw: What stood out to you in the first round of Division 3 last
weekend mate?
Bws: All the close results! Boronia by four points over
Warrandyte, Glen Waverley Hawks by four points over Wantirna
Sth and Chrinside Park by nine points over Coldstream. You can
already tell it’s going to be a tight division three in 2012.
Bw: Perhaps Heathmont’s comfortable win over Templestowe
was the biggest story though. We all know the Jets have struggled
to stay in Division 3 over recent years, but if they keep playing
like they did against the Dockers last weekend, they’ll forget all
about Division 4.
Bws: Division 2 bound maybe?
Bw: It’s only Round 1.
Bws: Fence sitter.
Bw: Would have thought sensible call.
Bws: I mentioned all the close results last weekend in Division
3, but there were more in Division 2!
Bw: Upper Gully by four, Rowville by nine.
Bws: Bayswater by 13 and Mooroolbark by 25.
Bw: Being a tipster sucks sometimes.
Bws: That’s why you become an ‘expert’ tipster like us hey?
Bw: Us? Look at the page to the left. Who got more tips correct
last weekend?
Bws: That lead won’t last long.
Bw: We’ll see.
Bws: Right, the big boys start today.
Bw: Can’t wait!
Bws: Division 1 premiers tip?
Bw: On the Vermont bandwagon. Seen the Eagles’ list of ins?
Simon Taylor, Heath Black, Nathan Hendley, Jarrod Dalton and
Brad Neill. They’re back.
Bws: The Eagles are a proud club with strong tradition. They’ll
make finals, but it’s insulting not to have the Bulls as premiership
favourites after winning the past two flags.
Bw: Time will tell. While we’re at it, what excites you the most
about Division 1 today?
Bws: A couple of huge matches to kick start the season. Noble
Park unveils the flag at the Bull Ring against its oldest rival
Balwyn. Always great contests. The other is the Arndale Cup
played between South Croydon and Croydon at the new and
improved Cheong Park. Ground should be packed and the game
should be close.
Bw: Reckon the Doggies will be too good at home. We’re out at
this game today, so make sure you tune into 98.1FM from 1pm
today, or streaming live through the website, to catch all of the
action from the ground. Also tipping Balwyn to spoil the Bulls’
party. Lilydale, Blackburn, Scoresby and Vermont to all win.
Bws: There is no way Noble Park will lose this game. Also
going for Norwood to knock off Blackburn, Knox to beat
Lilydale, Scoresby over East Burwood and agree Vermont should
get the chocolates from the Roos.
Bw: Plenty different there fossil. You could be out of contention
after Round 2!
Bws: Or in front. How do you see Division 2 panning out?
Bw: Don’t think you can go past Bayswater v Montrose for the
Division 2 match of the round. Two sides who have been regular
features in divvy 2 finals in recent seasons. The ’Waters really
had to fight for their win over the Sharks last weekend, while
Montrose did it reasonably easier over Donny East. Just get the
feeling the Dees are a little more settled at this time of year and
should win away from home.
Bws: Bayswater had to adjust to a much smaller ground
than usual last weekend and are no doubt better for the hitout.
Reckon they’ll get up this week. If East Doncaster can play four
consistent quarters at Zerbes, they will win. Mulgrave, Rowville
and the Waverley Blues to win too.
Bw: Getting further and further apart BWS. The Mustangs will
beat the Lions, Donvale over Mulgrave and Doncaster too good
for the Waverley Blues.
Bws: Let’s see what Division 3 presents us today then, shall we?
Bw: What you like?
Bw: Boronia and North Ringwood have had some ripper contests
over the past couple of years, with results often being within a
kick. The Saints had the better start of the two last week, which is
the reason I’m swaying towards the Saints this afternoon.
Bw: Agree. In other games, Templestowe should be too good for
Wantirna Soutth, new boys Heathmont and the Glen Waverley
Hawks to make it two in a row, while Mitcham and Coldstream
should also get four points.
Bws: Just when all looked lost, our tips re-align. No way will
that happen in Division 4 today though.
Bw: Really interested to see how Canterbury and Kilsyth
respond to their respective losses today. The Cobras would’ve
understandably been shattered losing to the Sharks while the
Cougars certainly had their opportunities to knock off the Zebras.
Had a chat with Canterbury coach Tony Rowe a while back and
he reckons his team will improve this season, so going for the
Cobras today on their coach’s word.
BWS: No pressure Tony, but like the Cobras today too. Think the
Eastern Lions might be too strong for Park Orchards, The Basin
over Forest Hill, Nunawading over Surrey Park and the Ferntree
Gully Eagles to open its account against South Belgrave, which on
paper looks to be a cracking match.
BW: All the same again Benjamin! Super round ahead of us.
Maybe we do agree more than first thought.
BWS: I’ll be keeping a lid on that one.
