Unjustified Kill<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>in</strong> <strong>Kashmir</strong> - Page 11<br />
BARAMULLA INCIDENT - 19.9.91, two persons, father and son, namely<br />
Khursheed A. S<strong>of</strong>i and Mustaq A. S<strong>of</strong>i R/O Baramulla got <strong>in</strong>jured due to the<br />
<strong>in</strong>discrim<strong>in</strong>ate fir<strong>in</strong>g by the forces and later died <strong>in</strong> the Hospital on 20.9.91 due to<br />
the <strong>in</strong>juries received at the hands <strong>of</strong> forces.<br />
PAMPORE INCIDENT - 19.9.91, due to the <strong>in</strong>discrim<strong>in</strong>ate fir<strong>in</strong>g by the forces at<br />
Pampore, one school teacher namely Rabia Perveen D/O Ab. Gani Bhat R/O<br />
Pampore received bullet <strong>in</strong>juries at the hands <strong>of</strong> forces while go<strong>in</strong>g to attend her<br />
duties and later died <strong>in</strong> the Hospital.<br />
PULWAMA AND URI INCIDENT - 21.9.91, it was announced on the media that<br />
<strong>in</strong> an encounter three persons each at Pulwama and Uri, Distt. Baramulla were<br />
killed. Further one person at Manasbal and eight other persons <strong>in</strong> some other parts<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Valley were also killed. On this date over all 15 persons were killed as per<br />
the electronic media.<br />
CHATERGHAM , SHOPIAN INCIDENT - 22.9.91, the forces cordoned <strong>of</strong>f a<br />
number <strong>of</strong> villages <strong>in</strong> District Pulwama with the pretext <strong>of</strong> search operations and<br />
when some persons tried to run away because the forces without any rhyme and<br />
reason were arrest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>nocent people. The forces fired <strong>in</strong>discrim<strong>in</strong>ately due to<br />
which seven persons, namely, M. Ashraf Mir aged 17 years, M. Ashraf aged 15<br />
years residents <strong>of</strong> Chatergham,M. Mansoor Dar R/O Gund, M.Maqbool Paul R/O<br />
Badimarg, Gulla Sheik R/O Asher Bug and two brothers M.Ashraf Gani & Gh.<br />
Qadir Gani aged 21 & 23 respectivally residents <strong>of</strong> Chatergham <strong>of</strong> District<br />
Shopion were killed. This all was done under the operation <strong>of</strong> crack-down.<br />
PATHKAH KEERI, BARAMULLA INCIDENT - 23.9.91, the forces after an<br />
attack by some unknown persons started <strong>in</strong>discrim<strong>in</strong>ate fir<strong>in</strong>g due to which some<br />
passers- by namely, Ab. Razaq Hajam, M. Farooq Hajam both R/O Pathu, Keeri,<br />
and Habib-ullah Wani R/O Wagura, Baramulla were killed.<br />
TITWAL INCIDENT - 26.9.91, it was announced <strong>in</strong> the <strong>of</strong>ficial electronic media<br />
that 21 militants were killed <strong>in</strong> an encounter at Titwal but <strong>in</strong> "<strong>Indian</strong> express "<br />
Newspaper the death toll was put at twenty seven. However the forces did not hand<br />
over the dead bodies deliberately to their relatives thereby avoid<strong>in</strong>g to ascerta<strong>in</strong> the<br />
real cause <strong>of</strong> death. People have a reasonable belief that the forces are kill<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong>nocent persons who are be<strong>in</strong>g arrested daily and then <strong>in</strong> the media it is<br />
announced that militants have been killed <strong>in</strong> an encounter. A writ petition has been<br />
filed <strong>in</strong> the Hon'ble High Court when 72 persons were killed <strong>in</strong> an alleged<br />
encounter at Kupwara. The Hon'ble court passed an order aga<strong>in</strong>st the State that the<br />
dead bodies be brought and particulars be furnished before the court. The<br />
Government furnished only the names <strong>of</strong> six persons and photographs <strong>of</strong> 72<br />
martyrs <strong>in</strong> closed envelopes. The Govt. went to appeal to the Supreme Court at<br />
Dehli aga<strong>in</strong>st the order <strong>of</strong> the High Court and the Supreme court directed the State<br />
Government to Exhibit the photographs <strong>of</strong> dead people only. Even this order was<br />
not implimented <strong>in</strong> District Doda.<br />
