Introduction
In this study, you will find in the first part some dates and sites of the diving events at the Olympic
Games held since 1904 (under the umbrella of the FINA since 1912) and the FINA World
Championships, World Cups, FINA Diving World Series, FINA Diving Grand Prix and Super
Finals of the FINA Diving Grand Prix.
In the second part, appears the standings of the first three places at all events of these competitions
followed by several classifications which are listed either by the number of titles or medals by
swimmer or National Federation.
It should be made clear that these standings only have a historical aim and not any sportive
signification because the comparison between the achievements of swimmers of different
generations is always unfair for several reasons:
1. The period of time. The Olympic Games were not organised in 1916, 1940 and 1944.
2. The evolution of the programme; the number of events keeps increasing.
3. Political boycotts did not give the opportunity to some divers to participate, i.e. in 1956,
1980, 1984.
This edition may manifest certain errors; we hope that this will be solved for next editions with the
assistance of our readers.
