R e m a r k s. Pollen grains <strong>of</strong> this type are<br />

similar to pollen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> recent Tsuga canadensis<br />

(L.) Carr. They occur in Europe in <strong>the</strong> Oligocene<br />

to Pliocene (Krutzsch 1971, Nagy 1985,<br />

Planderová 1990), in Poland in <strong>Miocene</strong> <strong>deposit</strong>s.<br />

They represent arctotertiary (A) element<br />

(Stuchlik et al. 2002). In <strong>the</strong> analysed material<br />

<strong>the</strong>y were found very rare, mainly in <strong>the</strong><br />

Lusatian seam.<br />

R e m a r k s. These pollen grains are similar to<br />

pollen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> recent Tsuga diversifolia (Maxim.)<br />

Mast., and represent warm-temperate element<br />

(A1). They occur in <strong>the</strong> Polish <strong>Miocene</strong> and<br />

Plio cene <strong>deposit</strong>s (Ziembińska-Tworzydło et al.<br />

1994a, b, Stuchlik et al. 2002). In <strong>the</strong> studied<br />

material <strong>the</strong>y were encountered sporadically.<br />

<strong>the</strong> recent Tsuga. They represent warm-temperate<br />

et al. 1994a), and occur in <strong>deposit</strong>s since <strong>the</strong><br />

Eocene, more <strong>of</strong>ten in <strong>the</strong> Oligocene and <strong>Miocene</strong><br />

(Krutzsch 1971, Ziembińska-Tworzydło<br />

1974, Nagy 1985, Kohlman-Adamska 1993).<br />

They are known from <strong>the</strong> Polish <strong>Miocene</strong> and<br />

Pliocene (Stuchlik et al. 2002). In <strong>the</strong> studied<br />

material <strong>the</strong>y were found regularly, but in<br />

quantities not exceeding 1%.<br />
