Director of the Gallery of Art in <strong>Legnica</strong> has a great honour to invite you to participate in all events of the<br />
<strong>Legnica</strong> <strong>Jewellery</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> <strong>SILVER</strong>. Its official culmination, connected with announcement of the results and<br />
the award ceremony of the 21 st <strong>Legnica</strong> International <strong>Jewellery</strong> Competition RITUAL<br />

R I t U a L – 21 st <strong>Legnica</strong> International <strong>Jewellery</strong> Competition<br />
The most important exhibition of the <strong>Festival</strong>. Organized for 30 years, the <strong>Legnica</strong> International <strong>Jewellery</strong> Competition<br />
focuses on the creative aspect of art jewellery, with the emphasis on the idea and interpretation. Works<br />
were assessed by the international jury composed of: Leo Caballero (Spain), Mariusz Gliwiński (Poland), Sławomir<br />
Fijałkowski (Poland), Eija Mustonen (Finland), Barbara Schmidt (Germany). 342 artists from 42 countries submitted<br />
561 works. At the exhibition will be presented works of 56 artists, mainly from Europe, but also from Chile, Israel,<br />
Canada and Korea.<br />

aBOUt thE aRtIStS<br />
About the Artists is a cycle of exhibitions devoted to distinguished jewellery artists from Poland and from abroad,<br />
some of them are already well-established, others are rising but worth seeing.<br />
hERMaN hERMSEN - Meander<br />
A retrospective exhibition of the outstanding Dutch artist, since 1992 lecturer at the University of Applied Arts in<br />
Düsseldorf, guest lecturer at many schools, institutes and symposia in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Great Britain,<br />
Belgium, USA and Japan. His works have been presented all over Europe and the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan<br />
and are included in many international collections in museums and galleries.<br />

MaRI IShIKaWa - Parallel Worlds<br />
Japanese artist living in Munich, graduate of the prestigious school of jewellery Hiko Mizuno in Japan and of prof.<br />
Otto Künzli’s class at Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich. Mamy times awarded. Her works have been presented<br />
at exhibitions all over the world and are included in many prestigious collections in Germany, Japan and<br />
France. Her main inspiration is Japanese culture.<br />

MaŁGORZata KaLIŃSKa - In different light<br />
Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łódź, honours degree at the Department of <strong>Jewellery</strong> Design<br />
(2008). Received a scholar from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Member of the Polish Goldsmithing<br />
Artists’ Association. She runs a studio of jewellery design and the Gallery of <strong>Jewellery</strong> Designers PRATA. She participated<br />
in many exhibitions and competitions and her are part of public and private collections.<br />

SILKE tREKEL - Spatial figures<br />
The German graduate of <strong>Jewellery</strong> Department at the Burg Giebichenstein University for Art and Design, Halle (1991-<br />
97) and Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore (1994-95). Multiple scholarship holder. Her works have been presented<br />
at exhibitions all over the world and are included in many prestigious collections.<br />

<strong>SILVER</strong> SChOOLS<br />
Annual presentation of the leading European art schools which educate jewellery artists and designers. Its aims is<br />
artistic achievements confrontation and presentation of creative exploration of the youngest generation of artists.<br />
The exhibition presents works of students and graduates of Prof. Daniel Kruger from Halle, Germany and Dr Sandra<br />
Wilson from Dundee, Scotland.<br />

A cycle presenting young, most promising artists who are taking their first steps in the area of goldsmithing.<br />
aNNa KaNICKa - I am not your imagination, baby!<br />
Student of the Department of <strong>Jewellery</strong> at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łódź, between 2007 - 2008 she<br />
studied at Akademie der Bildenen Künste, Munich, Germany. She has participated in exhibitions. She won many<br />
awards and honourable mentions. She designs both jewellery and furniture.<br />
DOROta SOKOŁOWSKa - The Clash<br />
Graduate of Romance Philology at the University of Silesia in Katowice. Since 2009 student of the Department of<br />
<strong>Jewellery</strong> at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Łódź. Participant of the exhibitions, repeatedly awarded.<br />

Dialogue Collective is the group of artists associated with London Metropolitan University (Petra Bishai, Isabelle<br />
Busnel, Laura Cave, Sophie Hall, Elsa Hedberg, Buddug Wyn Humphreys, Victoria King, Maarit Liukkonen, Louise<br />
Loder, Jo McAllister, Therese Mørche-Jørgensen, Margot Sevadijan, Paolo Scura, Ana Simoes, Rachel Terry, Timothy<br />
Information Limited, Aneta Wrobel). The theme and the inspiration of the presented work is renaissance.<br />

PREZIOSa yOUNG 2011<br />
4th edition of the international young jewellery designers exhibition organized by Le Arti Orafe <strong>Jewellery</strong> School in<br />
Florence and Gió Carbone. Its aim is to present the recent trends in contemporary jewellery. For the exhibition the<br />
international jury selected to the exhibition pieces by eight artists: Dana Hakim (Israel/Italy), Sam Hamilton (Ireland),<br />
Hanna Hedman (Sweden), Lisa Juen (Germany/China), Heejoo Kim (South Korea), Seulgi Kwon (South Korea),<br />
Marie Pendaries (France/Spain), Elena Ruebel (Germany).<br />

JEWELLERy aND GLaSS. CZECh DESIGN<br />
Presentation of the Czech craft, the creative center of which is located at the Technical University in Liberec and its<br />
branch, the Department of Design in Jablonec – one of the best universities of arts in this part of Europe. The leading<br />
and recognized artists together with young Czech jewellery designers will take part in the exhibition. The frequent<br />
participant of <strong>SILVER</strong>, Ludmila Šikolová is the curator of the exhibition.<br />

StRIPED FLINt - thE StONE OF OPtIMISM<br />
The exhibition is the results of the 1st Striped Flint - the Stone of Optimism <strong>Festival</strong>, which took place in Sandomierz<br />
in 2011. Initiators of the <strong>Festival</strong> were: Pajączkowski and Łutowicz. Striped flint is (alongside silver and amber) the<br />
most typical Polish jewellery material – it can be found only in the vicinity of Sandomierz. Apart from jewellery one<br />
can also see natural forms of striped flint, some reconstructions of prehistoric objects, contemporary photographs,<br />
paintings and collages.<br />
