6. The commications equipment is housed in a large room on the
second floor of the Provincial Headquarters. It consists of two trans­
mitters: a 200 WRCA and a 35 Wcomposite, and 2 receivers: an RCA ­
AR-S and an A.M.E. Energency power is furnished by 2 generators: a
2 km. 5 RCA and a JAP 1000 W. The equipment is old and inefficient.
Voice tranamission is practically impossible and all traffic that does
get through goes by CW. Two secondary stations have been installed in
Morondara (35 W) and Fort Dauphin (50 W).
7. important improvement work is being done in the harbor in order
to accoodaena medium tonnage ships. Port installations here are under
the direct jurisdiction of the National Police. They had no particular
police problems to report.
D. Fort Dauph
1. This visit gave the Team the opportunity to see a sub-provincial.
police station. Despite the hardship imposed by a recent hurricane that
has leveled over twenty per cent of the town, the officers and men of this
post presented a good appearance and morale appeared to be high.
