A-3, Radiotelephone, used infrequently by officials.
c. Frequencies ­
3780 kcs., nighttime:
6800 kos., daytime
6844 kcs., daytime
7560 kcs., applied for to International Telecommunications
Union through Malagasy Post, Telegraph and Telephone,
Department.
d. Equipment ­
1 - 350 watt RCA Transmitter
4 - 200 Watt ROA Transmitters
4 - 50 Watt RcA Transmitters
1.- 200 Watt Composite (made locally by M. Doucet)
1 - 75 Watt Composite (made locally by M. Doucet)
11 - 35 Watt Composite (made locally by M. Doucet)
3 - 20 Watt Composite (made locally by M. Doucet)
6 - RCA-AR-88 Receivers
3 - RCA Marine Receivers
4 - AME French Receivers
9 - Composite Receivers
2 or 3 - Miscellaneous Receivers (Hallicrafter, etc.)
Nearly all stations are provided with RCA 2KW, JAPY
1000 or other power generators generally in poor condition.

e. Effectiveness ­
----- Operation-is- marginal -to-poor--due-to-fol-lowing-reasons:
Wear - Newest equipment is of 1947 vintage;
Inadequate source of maintenance items;
Two-thirds of equipment is home-made;
Erratic power sources;
Poor location of stations;
Adverse atmospheric conditions and propagation paths;
Low transmitting power.
f. Power Sources ­
50 cycle AC at volts. Power supply outside of
Tananarive is not dependable. Voltage fluctuates
between 15 and 20% of normal.
