Bryan (1941 and 1942) reported the presence of lizards on Manra (Sydney).
Garnett (1983) noted that there were two species of reptiles on Manra (Sydney), the
Polynesian gecko, Gehyra oceanica, and snake-eyed skink, Ablepharus boutonii.
Pierce et al (2006) recorded reptiles observed in Abariringa (Kanton), Birnie, Enderbury,
McKean, Nikumaroro, Orona, and Rawaki (see Table III-3.15 above).
MCKEAN
A few lizards were noted on McKean (Hydrographic Office 1940; see also Bryan 1941 and
1942).
Garnett (1983) reported one species of lizard on McKean, the morning gecko, Lepidodactylus
lugubris.
Pierce et al (2006) recorded reptiles observed in Abariringa (Kanton), Birnie, Enderbury,
McKean, Nikumaroro, Orona, and Rawaki (see Table III-3.15 above).
NIKUMARORO (GARDNER)
Garnett (1983) reported five species of lizards from Nikumaroro (Gardner). These included:
1) Mourning gecko, Lepidodactylus lugubris,
2) House gecko, Hemidactylus frenatus,
3) Stump-toed gecko, Gehyra mutilata,
4) Snake-eyed skink, Ablepharus bouton,
5) Polynesian gecko, Gehyra oceanica,
6) Azure-tailed skink, Emoia cyanura.

McKean, Nikumaroro, Orona, and Rawaki (see Table III-3.15 above).
ORONA (HULL)
Lizards were present on Orona (Hull) (Bryan 1934). Bryan (1941 and 1942) reported that
three species of lizards were found there. No species list was provided.
Garnett (1983) reported four species of lizards from Orona (Hull). They included:
1) Stump-toed gecko, Gehyra mutilata,
2) Snake-eyed skink, Ablepharus bouton,
3) Polynesian gecko, Gehyra oceanica,
4) Azure-tailed skink, Emoia cyanura.
