A sign on Highway 95 just north of New Meadows marks the exact spot. Tee off at Meadow Creek Golf Resort, a sumptuous 6,696-yard, par-72 course set among towering pines and open meadows. Then soak awhile at nearby Zims Hot Springs, a year-round natural hot springs resort with two large pools. At New Meadows, each fork in the road will lead you to new adventures. Take Highway 55 into the recreation heartland of Valley County—McCall, Donnelly, and Cascade. Take Highway 95 toward Cambridge and you’ll find the southern gateway to Hells Canyon. From Cambridge, take Highway 71 west, and then take the 22-mile Hells Canyon Backcountry Byway. You’ll meander beside a trio of reservoirs along the Snake River—Brownlee, Oxbow, and Hells Canyon—before arriving at Hells Canyon Dam. It’s a great way to see the canyon by car.
