Rhizomes suberect or ascending (leading to a dwarf tree-fern habit), quite thick, 1.5–8<br />
mm diam., apex covered with brown to blackish hairs, basal parts covered by roots,<br />
protostele massive, cortex homogeneous, root numerous and robust. Stipes to 8 cm<br />
long, usually close to each other. Fronds dimorphic (except in T. mougeotii), simple<br />
or without lamina in the fertile fronds, once-pinnate in the sterile fronds, 30 by 8 cm,<br />
venation catadromous (in sterile frond), false veinlets absent, laminae usually more<br />
than one cell thick in fertile fronds, internal cell walls thick and coarsely pitted. Sori<br />
paratactic or pantotactic, immersed in the lamina, tubular, lips truncate or slightly dilate,<br />
receptacles long-exserted.<br />
Distribution — The Neotropics; more than 5 species.<br />
Habitat — Terrestrial or epilithic.<br />
Note — Corresponding to the Fe subclade in Ebihara et al. (submitted), and also to<br />
Copeland’s (1938b) genus, Feea.<br />

Rhizomes erect or ascending, quite thick, 4–15 mm diam., densely covered with dark<br />
hairs, protostele massive, cortex homogeneous, roots numerous and robust. Stipes to<br />
50 cm long, close to each other. Blades tri- to quadripinnatifid, deltate, 60 by 36 cm,<br />
venation anadromous, false veinlets absent, laminae usually more than one cell thick,<br />
internal cell walls thick and coarsely pitted. Sori paratactic, tubular, lips truncate or<br />
slightly dilate, receptacles long-exserted.<br />
Distribution — The Neotropics; at least 1 species.<br />
Habitat — Terrestrial.<br />
Note — Corresponding to a part of the Da subclade in Ebihara et al. (submitted).<br />
